Default recovering data from a formatted drive

my computer went on a blink and i reformated the hard drive. i recently noticed that i left some old photos that i forgot to make a copy of. are there any ghost programs i can use to recover data that is lost? thanks

Followup-Don't use the hard drive until you do the recovery as the data may be overwritten and the become unrecoverable.
