Default Realtek ac97 audio driver...

Hi guys,
My girlfriend has an aspire 5002 Acer laptop. AMD Turion 64 1.6. 256RAM.

The sound on the laptop doesnt work. A message says that the device is not working properly. So, I reinstalled the Realtek ac97 audio driver from the system cd. I repeat this problem but it keeps coming back. The sound works for a few days and I refix it.

Could it be a problem with the hardware? If it is, why does it work for a little while and then break, wouldnt it just not work full stop?

Any help much appreciated! Thank you very much.

AMD Turion 64 ML-30 Processor (1MB L2 cache, 1.6GHz) 512DDR
