hi guys all i want to know is what is ecc i no it stands for error correcting code but what dose it do like on ebay when buying ram it says no ecc would it be better with it or without :S please explane thanks

ECC is only for server systems. Most home, and ethuisast motherboards don't support it. It is also slightly slower than equivilent non-ecc RAM.

Only servers, where 100% stability 100% of the time is critical use them.

There's no point in buying it, you'll have no used for it unless your putting it in a mission critical server and have the hardware to support it.

Don't buy the wrong type consult your MB manual, i once thought i was clever by buying some server ram from Ebay BIG MISTAKE, when i put it in my desktop and switched on i got a black screen and a loud and very distinctive beep. There was a silver lining because i bought 2x512 server ram for £20 and sold the back on Ebay for £40;)

ECC is used for error detection and correction, but like the others have said, you need a mobo that supports it.
