Default RAM timings?

What is the difference between RAM timings? Ive seen 4-4-4-12, 5-5-5-12 and basically everything else. If I want RAM for gaming what is the best ram to get? I need 240pin ddr2 800

Thanks,
Jake

1 is cas latency, the delay between programs opening in nanonseconds basically.

The others are timings that are not as important.

How much RAM are you looking for, as you're gaming I will assume 1 or 2gb.

Yeah that is a bit better than the ones I selected, and Patriot has been known for good OCing in some cases.
