ram standard

I guess it's whatever your motherboard supports. The outer packaging will usualy tell you that or if you look it up online, you will find out in the Specifications section. Usually now, they're like DDR2 800 for top notch motherboard.

It's the highest speed your motherboard supports, or the speed of RAM that is optimal to run on the motherboard.

r u serious...cuz i wanted my ram to run in sync with my intel core 2 duo's fsb of 1066 mhz, but since there is not mother board like that, ill just go get ddr2 800. but will there be a huge loss of performnace from not having it in sync?

There's a difference from the advertised speeds and the related speeds.

DDR RAM stands for Double Data Rate. So if you have 400 MHz RAM, it's really only 200 MHz, but because it's dual-pumped, it's doubled.
The Core 2 Duos (and some other CPUs) are quad-pumped. So their speeds are X4. So if the FSB is 1066 MHz, it's technically only about 266 MHz.

It's hard to explain. Read these wiki articles:

You can also get high performance ddr800 with good ram timings etc to get even better performance, costs more but might be worth looking into if ur after high performing ram. Great for overclocking too.

alrite thanks then. and herres another questoon. wat psu do u reccommend for a intel core 2 duo e6600? i will be having a directx 10 card also and im thinking about a physics processing unit, but i dont think iw will need one yet. how many watts should i go for?

The best you can afford, it isnt all about the watts. Use top brands like seasonic, antec etc (these are the brands i use and i never have problems). There are other good brands, but i havent used them, so i cant recommend them. Heres a calculator that you can input your pc specs into.
