RAM Question

I have a quick question if anyone can answer it. I have a Dell Dimension 2400. I currently have a 512 MB PC2100 (266 MHz) stick of RAM in the computer. A friend of mine has a PC2700 1 GB chip that he said he would give me. If I installed the PC2700 chip into the open RAM slot, will it run with the PC2100 chip? Im wanting to maximize my RAM, but have never ran two different speeds at the same time. Any help with this question is appreciated.
