Since my other thread was blocked due to some guy cussing in a reply... here is my question:

hey im fixing to upgrade my ram. Should i keep this chip and add another 512 chip or get 2 new 512 mb chips? Im currently have my sights on the Corsair valuselect models on newegg.

here are the specs for my current ram:

samsung 512mb(supposedly) pc 2700

new added ram:
corsair 512mb pc 3200- $50

Or replacement ram:
2x512mb pc 3200- $86

will the performance boost from 2 3200 cards validate the 36$ price increase$

Oh and i am 15 years old with limited income so 36$ is a pretty good chunk of cash

Justifiable is for you to decide. Two new chips will be faster though, because all ram has to run at the slower speed, so if you just got one new chip the 3200 would run at 2700, while two new chips will both run at 3200 (assuming they are 3200 chips).

Oh, and also, some motherboards are picky on RAM...
So it's allways better to use the same or paired RAM...

would remove the pc2700 and replace it with 2 sticks of pc 3200 If your mobo supports it you would have dual ram capabilities but the improvement from the 512pc2700 to 1024pc3200 will make the extra bucks worth it.
