Default Ram Question.

I have 4 gigs of G.SKILL F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK PC2-8500(2X 2Gig sticks) but windows Xp is only showing 3.5GB. I tried looking for drivers and couden't find any for the ram.

yeah, im not leet with pc's, but windows doesnt display all 4gb. iave got 4gb and it comes up as 2.7gb for me on xp pro sp3 32bit

3.25 (or something close to this) is the maximum amount of ram that a 32bit OS can use.

Yup, 32-bit OS's can't use all 4 GB.

i thought that its only windows XP OS 32-bit and older versions cant have more than 3.5 ram.
i remember hearing and seeing that windows XP 64-bit and Vista 32-bit, and 64-bit supports over 4 gb

Vista x32 SP1 will show 4gb, but still can't address it. It's only a "feel good" thing.

XP x64 and Vista x64 will address all 4gb.

Still, from what I have found, with the cheap price of ram, the extra 1.5gb(3.5 total) is worth it even in x32.
