Run the Crucial System Scanner if you are unsure on what memory to purchase and you can look for reviews on different manufacturers at Newegg, too.

This is what I recomend for using as DDR for any computer

Good quality, cheap. Have a few gig of it personally.

The difference in DDR, DDR2, and DDR3 is latency timings. DDR has lower latency, but DDR2 has a higher frequency, whereas DDR3 is kind of a mixture between the two. In any case I can tell right form the get go that since you have a 9xx series Pentium D processor that you're using DDR2. Reason being is that no Dual Core product was ever made for Socket 478, which was the last Socket to use DDR as the Standard, although you can find LGA775 boards out there with DDR slots, but it's just not the "standard". In either case get DDR2, you can get 2 gigs of it for a very low price.
