Default Ram Density

sorry people for posting in the programming section but for some stange reason i couldn't find a section on hardware!
anyway i bought a gb of ram and i need to know what is the most common type of ram and also ebay says that high density ram is a lot slower then low density ram, is this true? and if it's slower then will it really make a huge difference on the computers performance?

High density ram is usually not slower, but there may be compatibility issues.
