okay now i have 512 in my comp now, and im gonna go cough borrow a stick of 512 from my brothers old computer, do i need to do any setup or anything? or will it just recognize it when i put it in?

As long as it fits in there and is the same kind of ram, it will recognize it automatically, you won't have to do anything.
