Default RAID Question

I was just wondering if it was possible for me to run RAID 0 with 3 discs, or if you had to have an even number of HDD? If not I think what im going to do is pick up a 4th hard drive and then just run RAID0+1.

RAID 0 you just need 2 or more drives.

0+1 you need at least 4, and an even number of drives.

Could you run RAID 0+1 if you had internal 2 drives for stripping and then 1 internal and one external drive for mirroring?

Yeah, I think Raffaz is right. I'm assuming the drive connects via USB/Firewire, correct?
