raid 0

i have a few questions about raid 0 and was hoping you guys could help.

1. what is raid 0? i know it has to do with hard drives but besides that i have no idea.

2. what are the advantages/disadvantages of raid0

3. what would i need to use raid 0 in my computer

4. how difficult is it to set up raid 0?

1)RAID 0 deals with striping. It splits data up between two hard drives. No mirroring is present (no redundancy). It's like one hard drive instead of two (although physically, you are using two hard drives).

2)Faster data transfer rates. Disadvantages are....don't know. Extra cost? If one drive fails, everything is dead. Must get two exact drives to work (better compatibility).

3)This is totally optional. Hardcore users like to do it. I'm looking into doing it next.

4)Not difficult. I never set one up before but I have a general idea how to do it. Lots of online tutorials on how to set it up.
