Hmm, try this.

Uninstall Quicktime,

try using this as an alternative.

Its called Quicktime Alternative, and in my eyes, is a lot better than the original Quicktime.
I have not had any issues running movies from Firefox with it, as it allows embedded content:

Does it have all the same features and compatibility as the original Quicktime?
I do a lot of video editing and rendering so, I was hoping this would work for Vegas, stuff like that too.

It hasn't gone wrong for me. Its what I use for everything Quicktime related now.

Try removing the plugin and reinstalling it
