just a little curious... when someone get infected with a virus that like attacks the system (destroying files, etc), it only attacks the HDD right?
I always thought that a simple system restore will make any virus disappear.
just wanted to make sure.

I've never heard of any virus damaging hardware, I could be wrong though.

Not sure on the system restore, don't know much about this area.

Some of the very first viruses could take out BIOS chips. This has fallen out of practice though as a computer that cannot turn on, can't spread the virus.

viruses only will affect the HDD. like mentioned above, i haven't heard of any virus attacking any other piece of hardware. And if you get infected with such a virus, you're better off reformatting the HDD instead of playing around trying to clean it.

surprisingly, i dont think i ever got an Virus on any of my computers.
I dont even have any antivirus or anything on, not even firewall, and my computer is like on 24/7.
Pretty hard to get a virus if you know whats suspicious i guess.

well Teny, then you must be a lucky guy LOL.

I have my Nod32 running and Comodo firewall too...but i too have never ever had a virus hit one of my computers. :)

I would've thought the same thing until Avast told me I had a trojan on my computer, I didn't notice any slowdown either.
