Default Questions about modern CPUs

1. Are there currently other sockets being used or is socket 775 the only current socket?

2. If so, what are the other current CPU sockets being used?

3. What socket/sockets were being used right before 775/? ?

4. What socket/sockets were used before that one/those, and so on?

For Intel socket 775 is the latest. AMD has AM2/AM2+. The new socket 1366 and AM3 will be released in 09. Before the 775 for Intel was the 478 if I'm not mistaken. For AMD the 939.
