Default Question on Video Cards

I am about to purchase a video card for my PC. I Dont want to spend alot and was wondering what I should look for in a card. How important is Memory, Bits, Clock speed Etc. I have a Wide screen monitor and watch alot of widescreen movies and would like to start playing some games. Im looking for bang for the buck here!! Any help would be greatly apreaciated

what kinda video card slot do you have on your motherboard? and what are your other specs?

Biostar NF61S MB, PCI Express x16, 1GB DDR2 667, AMD Sempron 3400+ running at 2392mhz.
