Some of the opterons have the same stepping and manufacturing week and the A64 X2's and the FX's! Some of the opterons are even unlocked from multipliers 4-25!

Ya i still don't want an opteron. Opteron=server=i dont have a server=i dont need.

what dont you get? A S939 opteron is NOT your regular everyday S940 opteron. It is a handpicked San Diego relabeled as an opteron? This isnt rocket science here. Get the picture already, they perform just as well as an A64 and almost the same price with 2 times the cache.

I guess the reason why Opterons aren't as popular with the average user is the fact that they are targeted towards the server end. You see those advertised a lot in the media. I don't think there are any common benchmarks either as all I see are the 6600, 6800, 7800, x1000 series, the older x800 series, etc, benches. Imagine if AMD announced the new Opterons now available for PC gamers and designed for high performance machines. That would throw the Athlon 64's into the budget CPU category.
