a question about viruses

can you be attacked from a computer on the same network?
my kids computer is tryng to access my computer, and zone alarm keeps on blocking it. it is running through a router and the ip is definately from the kids computer. i just wondered if they had a virus, could it possibly attack my computer that way?

It is possible, run a virus scan of the other machine. It's also possible that your kids machine is just looking for other machines on the local network, something windows machines on a network do - quite harmless
