question about USB

when first booting up a new system... the usb ports will not work until you install the drivers correct? so does that mean a usb keyboard and mouse will not work to adjust the bios at the beginning? so i will have to use ones with ps/2 connections right?

my usb keyboard works for the bios. cuts off when the xp screen comes up. then works in explorer. should work without drivers unless its one of the real fancy internet ones. just try it
