Default question about a system

Hi everyone. Im new to these boards, being a novice of sorts when it comes to computer, i was looking for opinions about a computer i was thinking about buying, here are the specs:

dell deminsion 8400

pentium 4 630 ht 3 ghz
microsoft xp home
1 GB dual channel DDR2 SDRAM 400Mhz
128 mb pci express ati Radeon x300se
160 gb serial ATA hard drive 7200 rpm
48x cd-rw DVD combo drive
soundblaster live 24 bit advanced HD audio
and a 17 in crt monitor.

yeah sounds good to me mate. Make sure you are certain though before buying a dell. I got a dell dimension 2400, saw an upgrade for flat monitor and twice as much RAM for the same price a few days before i arrived and they wouldn't cancel the order. Got it upgraded anyway. Be careful dell change the prices of the systems often.

BUILD...ill build a better system for you for less money...i dont want you to get cheap parts.

Dell is cheap parts...i will be more then welcome to build you one for nothing mre ten the parts cost...i just love building them...seriously.

whats wrong with dell?
ive never owned one before, but have become tired of HP. the price is what attracted me most. that system would be about $850

Dell uses cheap parts....they also dont use good brands.
