Sorry if this was posted, I couldn't find anything else. I was wondering if your motherboard had to be specifically designed for DDR2 RAM, or if every motherboard was capable of using it. It's obviously cheaper so I was wondering about this a bit.

I would say yes, the newer models will have ddr2 in them, not sure if ddr2 would run in a older models that use ddr1, you would have to look in you motherboard manual to see what specs it had,

well
If u have a board that is only DDR ram capable then it can only support DDR ram
(DDR and DDR2 are just basically to different classes of speed)
If u put a stick of DDR2 at the speed of 800Mhz in a DDR board It will not work because the speed is to fast for the board.

But if u have a Motherboard that is Able to support DDR2 memory then it has backwards compatibility (So in other words u can use DDR or DDR2 memory in the board)
Hopefully this has helped
Also, There are many more factors that have to be the same for the memory and the motherboard to work other that its speed.(in case u didnt no)
