Default Question about an external hard drive.

Hi guys!

I've been thinking about getting an external hard drive since I'm running out of room thanks to all these videos my friends and I have been making. I'm just not sure about a few things...

Well first off this is my current motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138125

Right now I have 3 hard drives: one 250 GB and two 70 GBs.

Anyway, I noticed (I think) that my current motherboard doesn't have an eSATA card/slot(?), so I was thinking of buying this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816132007

The external hard drive I was thinking of getting was this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822204079

I'm not really sure what other info I should give you guys.. and I have a feeling I'm missing something else important. Or is it really just that easy? Thanks to anyone who can help me out here!

Edit: Oh! If that's really all there is to it, all I would have to do would be to put in the eSATA card into my PCI slot and then follow the instructions to hook up my hard drive right? Thanks again!

Yeah it's that easy. Install the drivers first then shut down and install the card. Follow the prompts when you boot back up. Enjoy.

I have a ata expansion card from silicon image that has not given me one bit of trouble in all the years I have own and used it. Real user friendly.

Great! I have one more question if you don't mind.

I was looking at the eSATA card in question ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...troller%20Card ), and I noticed that the pins are different than the PCI slot on my motherboard. This one has a few pins, an opening, lot of pins, another opening, and then a few more pins.

My motherboard ( http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/4997/56503878as3.jpg ) has a big opening for pins, a line, and then a small opening?

Sorry for the possible stupid question, but will it still be able to fit properly even with that extra opening?

It's still a PCI card. I think I've seen other PCI cards like that before. Dunno why it's done, but whatever, it still works.

Oh Sarahlee22 if you see this you may be disapointed at the performance. That card is only rated at 1.5Gb. Make sure you move the jumper on the sata drive to the 1.5 position.
