Question Question about desktop modding

Hi, I have been experimenting with stardock and such, and I wanted to know what i would have to do to make my own desktop object (or gadget) to customize my desktop. Do any of you know much about the coding or have experience with it?

Please tell me what I would have to learn to make one, or what i would have to do to get one made for me?
