Default Is the quad core worth it over the core 2 duo e6750 or 6850?

I'm building my first computer. It'll be mainly for some directx10 gaming, and I have read/people have told me that the e6850 or even the e6750 are faster and better "bang for your buck" than the Q6600. Is this true?

OMFG, get the quad core for gaming and for everything else. Here, you see the OC potential of the awesome power the Q6600 has to offer compared to the top of the line dual core E6850:

all of those games expect lost planet are not threaded for quad cores, meaning the game can only use 2 of the 4 cores the C2Q has. therfore, those other benches are meaningless
