Default Quad core as a Pentium III?

I have an intel quad core on my Windows XP machiene, however, when I go to system in control panel, it says I have a Xeon Pentium III. WTF?

Press Control, Alt, & Delete together, and go to Performance when the task manager appears.

How many cores are showing under CPU Usage History?

If you have a quad, 4 moving graphs should be showing.

Yep.....And that much I knew. When I bought this laptop a year ago, I wasn't even aware that dual cores existed. The thought of stacking never occurred to me. Now that I am getting back into thoroughly understanding that which I am building, I realize just how outdated my knowledge base is. At one time, I was the go-to guy for anything DOS related. That was many, many years ago....and I have forgotten it all. Well.....almost.

and the cores dont stack, lol
there just side by side on the chip
