Default Putting New Hard Drive In

Hi all. I have been wanting to put a new hard drive in my desktop pc as the size it to small for what I want. The drive I have installed at the moment is a 120GB IDE, I would like to install either a 500GB or 640GB sata and the motherboard doesn't have any sata connections. My question is will this VIA VT6421A 3 Sata 1 Port IDE PCI Raid Controller Card | eBay be able to do what I am wanting to do?

Assuming that your PC has an open PCI slot, that should work for you.

Instead of replacing the primary drive why not have the sata as a slave drive for storage?

Building on this, OP probably wont be able to because that card might not have a BIOS and therefore wouldn't be bootable.

It doesn't look like it. You may need a SATA power adapter.
