For this rig what PSU would be MORE than enough to satisfy it's needs:

AMD 3000+ Athlon
7800 GTS O'Clocked.
3 Hard Drives (or 2)
2 Disk Drives
2Gb of ram (400MHz)
Motherboard is old... can't remember :p

Thanks in advance.

What's the processor revision? This makes quite a big difference.

For example my old 3400+ sucks more juice than my new Quad 6600

i would say about 600watt maybe a little bit more just incase you get a better graphics card

It doesnt, 600w is more suited a higher end pc ie SLI. there is a website thats lets u work out ur power needs.

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

check that site out, its good, i could be wrong, 600w seems too high for me, let us know what it says.

my pc's requirements is 550w pretty much maxed out usage oc'd too, dont forget to take into account the 12v railing rating.

ok ok 600watt is abit high, it depends on what graphics card u have coz some request a high watt psu to run it

Yeah seems to be nowadays in the age of conservation and global warming, pc power consumption will rise with the killer gfx cards coming out!

add about 150 watts to that calc and you need at least a total of 30amps on the 12v rail

Why do i need to add 150w? pc works fine, had the same psu fotr a year bought it because the other one was underpowered for the 7950gx2, and ive got 44a dual 12 rails.
