Default PSU Question in relation to getting a new Graphics card

How can I find out what size PSU will fit in my machine without taking it apart. I want to buy a new graphics card and need a higher psu (was thinking around 500w) as I think I want an Asus GeForce GTX550ti (not sure if it will be overclocked yet).

Thanks in advance for any info

Default Re: PSU Question in relation to getting a new Graphics card

I presume you are talking power rather than size. Assuming you are getting a standard ATX PSU then I suggest at least 500w. Personally I would go for 550w or 600w. More power means less work that the PSU has to do so the fan will spin less.

This will result in less energy used over say a 400w power supply (despite being more powerful) and also it should be quieter.
