I have a 22" Widescreen HDCP LCD COMPUTER monitor. It is HDCP compliant and has VGA and DVI inputs. It is 1680x1050 (thats 16:10)

If i use an HDMI to DVI adapter, i can use it to play my Playstation 3 in 1080i. I'm 100% certain of this, don't go wasting your time explaining something to me I already know.

BUT

will it stretch the 16:9 picture to 16:10? or will it letterbox the picture (black bars on Top and Bottom )

in this case i WANT black bars - i dont want a distorted picture!

the black bars would be so small itd be unnoticeable, and the picture would be undistorted and nicely fit.

If the letterboxing function is dependant on the monitor, can anybody name any good 22" Widescreen LCDs which are HDCP compliant that can letterbox?

question for u guys?
how do u get the sound for your system if your monitor has hdmi but theres no speakers built in............
