I use my routers firewall, and I try to only download software from the Ubuntu repository, unless it's well known...

Viruses for linux are uncommon, but not unheard of. The rise in popularity of various linux distributions will result in a rise in popularity for linux based viruses..

I actually agree with this. I mean, there are lots of decent free software to help protect your system, and they do a good job. I've used AVG anti-virus, Ad Aware, Spybot, Sygate Personal Firewall, Avast, Spyware Doctor......the list goes on. Having the convenience of a software suite that handles all of that in one application is a definite plus to me. Also, ESET uses way less resources then all the other software suites that I've tried including Norton, Trend Micro, Kaspersky, Spy Sweeper.
