Default Processor upgrade in Dell XPS

I have a dell XPS M1530 laptop with a 1.83 MHz T5500 processor. What would be the best
upgrade and what would be involed. bios, heat sink, etc.

I own that same laptop, it will at least handle the T9300 and possibly a T9500. I own a T9300 (dual core, 2.5 GHz) and it's plenty fast. I also run an SSD in the unit as well, so if you can go with that combination, you won't regret it. It's a wonderful little laptop.
