Problems Trying to go on FTP

When I got this windows, it didnt have IE installed. So I got a IE from a xp c.d. But when I go to ftp server it says Page cant be displayed. Its a working FTP. Before I tryed firefox when it loged in it shows the files it didnt allow me to opy files into it? how do I fix this problem? the IE is fine, but how do I fix the can not be displayed page to I can upload files now!
