Default Problems with System Files and Bios

Hi their, I am not a proper computer tech, but I have fixed a few in my time.

The problem I am coming across is:-

When i boot up it is coming up with an error saying that a system32 file is removed or corrupt, so i tried to re-install the op. system (XP PRO) but when t says boot from disk, i hit enter but the error always comes up. can anyone help me, it is an old computer, will it just be worth getting a new one?, Plus is their anyway of getting rid of the password on bios, somebody has added one and i cant get a hold of the password.
