Default Problems with Printer Sharing

My parents are have two computers hooked up to a HP Color Laserjet 2840. My dad's PC, we'll call it PC 1, is hooked up directly to the printer via USB. My mom's PC, PC 2 is sharing the printer through my dad's computer through the network.

Suddenly I find that I am unable to print anything from PC 2. PC 1 prints everything fine however. What happens is that anytime you try to print something in any program, the program freezes before you can even see the printing options window.

You guys have any ideas? We really need this printer working.
