You can try control panel-add/remove programs-MS internet explorer-double click and it should give you an option to repair. Works sometimes.
Or the windows folder-windows update setup files-IE setup.

there must be a solution besides messing the regestry. I mean nots a major problem just a minor one that drives you to insanity and back.

Look in the windows folder for for "windows update setup files" and see if there is a setup file. Open that and it should install IE6.

there is no windows update setup file folder. i even ran search on c drive. i have service pack 2 xp professional and all updates.

To reinstall IE 6.0 do this...

Insert the Win XP CD

Open Start / Run and paste this in: rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

Then press ENTER
