Default problem installing Windows XP

"The file 'Asms' on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 CD-ROM is needed"

that comes up when i get into the initial setup of windows after it formats the hdd i've used that same disc before to wipe my own hdd a few times before.. just now that im trying to format this new hdd its giving that error

Anyone got any ideas?

Its my mate thats having the problem, hes managed to format it, but when installing windows he gets that error.
