my dvd-rom drive recently stopped working and would not read discs. so i went into the device manager (i am running windows vista x64 edition) and the system is recognizing the drive. if i click on the properties for the drive, under the device status it says...

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

so there is a problem in the registry and i am not sure how to fix this. i could try a system restore but i am not sure when my drive stopped working. how can i fix this problem? should i try a registry repair program?

Get in device manager.
delete your dvd drive.
Let windows reload the driver with a restart.

I fixed the problem. There was a problem with the registry and I downloaded a fix from microsofts website. It works now, thanks for the help.
