Default Is this a problem?

Hi.

I have a Labtcec mic that i use for my computer. But the problem is that it is always on. This can get pretty annoying. Especially if i need the sound a louder than normal. Since its near the speakers it makes the very bad high frequency(or something) sound. Is there a way so that i can keep it off when not in use? If not, is there anything else i can do?

you can unplug it when not in use, and replug it back in when you need to use it

You should be able to mute the mic input in the sound properties control panel.
