Default Price for Performance

okay... now be honest... which would be better (just cpu) for the price to match up with performance

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 $279.99
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ $285.00

And you can't forget the higher end Pentium D's
Intel Pentium D 950 $259.99

so which one is best for its money?

I would not pay 279 for a E6400. But the E6400 is definitely better than the 5200+.

I'd agree: the E6400. Plus, to make things better, if you have a Micro Center anywhere near you, they're selling them in-store for $160, no rebates!
