Default power supply strong enough.

Im building a computer with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130071
a core 2 quad @ 2.4
2x1gb of ram
1 500 gb sata hd
Is this external 500 http://www.xpcgear.com/psmg500.html strong enough to power all of this. it needs to be external for room and heating purposes.

^he's looking for an external psu because he's building his pc inside an xbox case, he has a couple different threads about it floating around. It would be easier if he stuck to the same thread...

I seriously doubt it. I took a gamble a while back with 15A on 12V using much less power-hungry components and BOOM! Fortunately it didn't take out anything else; I got extremely lucky. NVIDIA recommends at least 23A on the 12V rail for the 8800GTS's, but you probably want even more since you're getting the Quad.

Good luck with the xbox build though, sounds unique.

Is it possible to just an internal one and place it outside? are there external cases for them?

Ignore thelethalblow. That 600 watt one would be good if you can find it somewhere.
