Exclamation Power Supply

I'm contemplating on purchasing a new high-end gaming desktop.

However, I am concerned about the power supply.

There is two options:

700 watt power supply

or

1000 watt power supply (future proofing)

I don't want the electric bill to increase sky high.

And plus, isn't 1000 watt a lot of power?

I don't know, can someone help and clarify?

Is 1000 watt even safe?!

what are the other specs ,i think 700w should be fine but judst to be safe post your specs

i highly doubtt you will need 1000w unless you are running like a quad core with 4gb ram dual 8800gtx and like 20 raptors

ya, 700 would be fine, even though your psu would be 1000watts, that doesnt mean its always sucking that much energy, its only using what the pc is using, its not going to be putting power that doesnt need to be used somewhere, i think 700 will be fine, but we need to know what you plan on building first

700 should be fine. Unless you're going to have some extremely power hungry hardware, there's really not much need for 1000W

Question Re: Power Supply

What is wrong with AlienWare?

"an ageia physicx xard is not required"

Why not? Can you elaborate on this further please.

If Muz thinks like I do, it's because Alienware is owned by dell.

THe physics card isn't required because so few things even utilize it now. It's just a waste of money. Wait a bit for more games to support it and price to come down then just add it to the system.
