Do any other sounds or music play using apps other than the Zune software?

When did this problem start happening?

Has he tried reinstalling the sound drivers? Check to make sure that the Zune software is not the default player.

About a year ago, he took it to geek squad and they said that it was working there. Also, Windows Multi Media Player is the main music player (as far as i know)

Is it onboard or a PCI sound card? Has he tried reinstalling the sound drivers?

What system is he using?
