Talking The Poor Gamer PC

I've been dying to get a new gaming computer and I think I finally found one...

First of all, I was planning on playing games like:
MMOs: examples such as Star Wars: The Old Republic, Stargate Worlds, World of Warcraft, DC Universe/Champions Online, Final Fantasy XIV (lol I know a lot of them aren't out yet but oh well ) etc..
Games: examples such as Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Street Fighter IV, Prince of Persia, Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X., (and the performance of: Assassins Creed 2, Crysis, etc.).

Second, I was planning on making games most likely. Though this wouldn't need a real good computer unless you're real good at it .

And so, my idea was to get this. Also to get a power supply and graphics card. I was planning maybe a 9800GT. But alas I'm poor so maybe a 9600GT, 9600GSO, or even... a 9500GT . Oh and like a 450 watt power supply I guess. Maybe I could stretch it to something like this.

Q&A (I ask them you answer them):
Q: Is the processor good for gaming?
Q: Is the memory good for gaming?
Q: Which graphics card should I use?
Q: Which power supply should I use?
Q: Are the power supplies and graphics cards compatible with that computer?
Q: Is that a good computer model and company?
Q: Would it be a good idea to get this computer even though its refurbished?
Q: What are your overall thoughts?

NOTE: I'm buying this computer stuff in December (hopefully sooner) so bear with me.

You can do better. If you can push your budget up another $100, I can build you a nice quad or triple core that will destroy that computer.

Nice Build, AM3 w/ DDR3 puts you right on with AMD's most current line.

But if its too expensive, you should go with an AM2 setup and DDR2

Personally, I would save a little more money and go with AM3....

I had been thinking of making my own PC, but every time I make a PC parts wishlist, the price becomes too expensive. Oh and by the way I couldn't find AMD Phenom II X3 710 anywhere on Tom's Hardware charts. I am also hiss at ATI cards. According to Tom's hardware, on Fallout 3 (just random game), the GeForce 9800GT fps if 41, while that ATI card is 27. BIG difference

Just tell me, is the computer I found a good buy for a poor gamer? THINK about it... AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200, 3GB RAM, Windows Vista Home Premium, 250GB HD, (and with these added) 500 watt power supply, and GeForce card. The computer itself is 310 dollars. What is there to lose? I know it's refurbished but.. by the way I don't have really any experience with 'building' computers.

EDIT:
it also has a keyboard and mouse. And an operating system. Windows 7 is like still in beta ya know, right? Besides won't it like, after it's finished you have to pay for it? Kind of like a dormant Trial Period..

It's not that great, trust me. It will barely get you by. A triple core is the sweet spot for gaming. Just go with what I recommended. Everything is as easy as plugging a cord into a wall. That build will last you at least a couple of years and give you great results in gaming.

My budget is $400 though

And I don't like ATI, but that card you mentioned is a bit better than GeForce 9600GT I think after doing a bit more research.

Looks great, anyway to shave off $20 so we can bump it up to an HD 4830 which is a big jump.

Drop the 4670 and get this as a combo.

It's actually a 4850.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.202706

He could drop down to 2GB of RAM.
