my computer is crashing whilst gaming, it happens about 15 mins into my gaming the monitor goes off and its light flashes indicating that there is no signal in some cases there is still sound. this is the same asw a problem i had about a year ago whilst in hungary, you see my bro sent me the computer as a present and on my first gaming experiance it crashed just like this, i was worried that it had been damaged but on taking it to this guy at the computer shop he could find no problem only to say that maybe there was not the right electrical currant in the house ( this being rural hungary with ancient electrics) and since everything was plugged in to an adapter i plugged the computer into its own socket and that was the end of the problem. i havent really done much gaming recently so having tryed and found this problem happening now whilst back in england. im so frustrated. i have had one or two problems recently where my computer completely crashed and would not turn on for about three or four trys but its been workin since. i know i have tons of video an audio files and programs but the computer has a big harddrive and pretty descent specs please offer some advice, i was thinkin that i might have a virus even thou im running mc affe and it says theres no virus my computer is running a bit slow and loading times also. please offer my cheap and free alternatives

how would i ago about fixing or diagnose this problem, just to mention that when i took the comp to this guy about this problem the first thing he did was to check the tempeture which was fine and he even stuck an xtra fan 4 good mesure, i have got the side panal off my comp at mo would that cause exses heat

Does that mean ya want some help lol :) What are the specs of ya computer? What OS are you running?

I don't have too much advice to help this; there's only one thing I can think of that possibly could help. You said, "...only to say that maybe there was not the right electrical currant in the house...," correct? Do you think this may still be a problem? Check on the back of your power supply. There should be a switch (on both the power supplies I've ordered, it's been red) that says a number, either 115 or 230. Now for me, I have to set that at 115, because that's what the voltage of the power sockets in my house are. If I set it to 230 though (did it by accident once :p ) my computer won't even boot. If I remember right, the power outlets in England are 240 volts, so I guess you'd have to have that at 230, unless there's a 240 option. If it's on 115 right now, someone confirm this before trying, but it would be my advice to switch it over.

This is just one possible solution, and if it's not the problem, sorry for putting you through the agony of reading it all. About your hard drive...I don't really know much to do about that, sorry. Just those maintenance options that mr mixx suggested, if you're able.
