Default Please Help Me Partition for Dual Boot...

Ok So I have windows XP installed and I want to dual boot it with Vista. My harddrive is a 250gb WD. Its only one partition now and im trying to make it two so I can install Vista on the other one. Partition Magic kept giving me and error when i would try to make that partition after booting and this other Gnome boot partition editor didnt work either.
