Cool photo scanning with Epson WF 2540

I am trying to scan old photos to digital format and from my scanner they scan to one corner or the other. I once had a Lexmark printer that scanned them to a image that I could save from the scan , but this printer does not do that I tried the Epson site but no help any help with this problem would be appreciated Thanks

Only thing that I can suggest is that you scan at a high DPI and then crop the file in paint so you only have the photo and not a large white border too. I had a scanner that did this too and this is the easiest way to get around the issue.

Hello Dan, I may be able to help.
I have an Epson scanner & the software I use (I'm at work just now, doing an evening shift & can't remember the soft wares name) has a preview & a scan button.
Pressing the preview gives just that & then using the mouse or graphics pen as I have I then click & drag an 'ant line' (moving dashes) around the image which crops out the surrounding white & then I press scan & it just scans the image.
Then it opens a dialogue window asking what format to save in & to where etc.
o here to download the software,

o here to have a basic lesson on it,

Sorry if this reply is too late but I only joined today, 9th April 2014.
I'll post back later with the software name but it definitely is an Epson programme so if your scanner is an Epson it should work. Simon...

I have an Epson Workforce 845 and in order to get the scan bed to work correctly I downloaded the complete software package. That's where the software is that retrosi mentions. The driver package alone doesn't have it nor does windows.

Glad I was able to help Dan, I have a varied background regarding computer related stuff.
I'm not a specialist in anyone area but have some insight to this & that.
20 years ago I use to put PC's together from scratch & one of my old scanners had the SCSI ID connections which had to be told what ID it had & had to be turned on before the PC otherwise it wouldn't be recognised.
