I'm looking to save money anywhere possible so I can get my build soon. So I'm wondering is a Phenom II x6 1045t a good deal better or worse for gaming than the Phenom II x4 965? Price wise the x6 is cheaper for two days thanks to tiger direct.

- AMD Phenom II x6 1045t 2.7ghz
- ASUS M5A78L-M 760G
$140 for both (I think its a great deal but don't know how the motherboard is)

vs.

- AMD Phemon II x4 965
- MSI 990FX

Also looking for future proofing and multitasking, unlikely that I will overclock

I would take the 965 with the 990FX board. The 990FX is a superior chipset to the 760G and the 965 is a black edition which would allow for more overclocking potential.

I don't plan on overclocking, and is it really worth an extra $80? For me that means it has to perform 20-50% better

The x6 is also rated 8% better than the x4, but has a lower ghz 2.7 compared to the 965's 3.4, but the x6 has a turbo which brings it to 3.2 and has 6 cores vs. 4
