Default Phenom II (45nm) available on Newegg.

All the reviews I could find:

http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-ph...-review-test/1
http://www.ixbt.com/cpu/amd-phenom-2-x4-940.shtml
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=213690
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...oc.aspx?i=3492
http://www.hexus.net/content/item.ph...=16757&page=10

Newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...20-%20Desktops

Cliffs:

4GHz overclocks.
Phenom II 940 faster than the i7 920 in most games, usually the opposite in other apps.
Power consumption greatly reduced compated to 65nm.

So how many cores would show up in task manager with one of those things?

One thread per core, and there will be triple cores in February.

Yup, it will run fine on your motherboard with no BIOS update needed.

From the Anandtech article:
Quote:
Socket-AM3 Phenom II parts will also work in Socket-AM2+ motherboards, the two are pin-compatible. When in an AM2+ board, these upcoming Phenom II processors will work in DDR2 mode, but when in an AM3 board they will work in DDR3 mode. How cool is that?

The currently available 45nm Phenoms are AM2+, not AM3.

@ zKILLA, your board is AM2, not AM2+, and whilst it supports the 65nm Phenoms, it may not support the 45nms.

Keep an eye on this page.

EDIT: Damn, I can't provide a direct link, you'll have the search for your mobo's CPU support list yourself.
