If it's a gaming rig... totally go for the amd. Single core is your best bet. Trust me... intel is starting to remake some new cpu's, and lemme tell you... the pent. D is not one of the remakes... just make sure it's socket 939 so you can upgrade to the dual cores for amd later on, like alvino said.

No, it's just dual core. Only the EMT64 is 64-bit.

Wait a tick, Pentium D's are NOT even 64-bit? Cor, blimey, no wonder they suck so much.

Wait, nm, it does support 64-bit technology. Never mind... I was thinking pent. 4... it has that EM64T chip. You have to have the technology enabled... nm... in bios... ah well. AH.

What? Hm? I'm confused. 6xx P4's have it and 5xx ones don't. Did you say PD's do have it?

the 6xx series are 64 bit the 5xx arent

I went to intel's website and it says that they are, the pent. d's that is. That cpu supports 64-bit technology.
